Hi, what receiver would you recommend for ease of updating,entering gift codes etc, I have an icecrypt 3500 with all the plugins installed but Ive had nothing but problems. I want a receiver thats user frendly as easy as the openbox but a bit more upmarket to suit multi-sat any suggestions.

Personally I'd recommend the protek series (97xx and now now linux 9800) - the 97xx series have a free gift (doesn't stop after a year), all auto-updated after installing alternative soft, but no cccam, only newcamd (client). Most user-friendly one I've had (and still have), but plugins not possible.

If you want plugins, you need to go open source enigma 2.
Vu+, dreambox, gigablue, etc would be the best way to go, but take a it of getting used to.
Are you looking for a single or twin tuner?

Hi,just a single linux tuner capable of multi sat to drive a1.1 dish to watch live football around the world.

The most user friendly receiver is the one that suits your requirements.
The meaning of the word "friendly" is very wide 'cause I know how to manage a dreambox but someone else knows nothing about them and immediately rejects them.
For me the most friendly one is the dreambox but for another is the worst.
Well, generally speaking, I believe that all enigma 2 receivers
are user friendly and give the maximum to their users.

I'd recommend either the vu+ uno, vu+ solo, gigablue, or dm800se.
Being a vu+ user I'd always recommend them over others, but you also need to take budget into consideration.
If you want a twin tuner the vu+ solo2 is the winner hands down.
Currently, In my opinion, the best linux based stb out there.

Buy tuner enigma 2 definitely you will be satisfied. There's nothing complicated but it can very much.

For ease of use , for me , Technomate non linux wins hands down .
The way the menu's are layed out , updating is easy . As a client box it's perfect .
I have DM , Cristor , F3 .. and many others but some things are medo so commplicated on some boxes .
But if you want more , again .. a linux box is like no other . It does a ton of stuff but you need to know how to handle it .

Can totally agree about the technomate non linux being so simple in use as I have one. I also know many of the older generation who know nothing about technology can use them as it is straightforward and cheap enough.

The later models do support cccam, I believe the best box as an allrounder is the TM5402HD, it has everything you would want in a box and it full HD, and contains one of the most sensitive tuners around. Have a look at that if you are deciding to get a technomate!

In my opinion, an Enigma 2 box that is supported by the Vix Team is the way to go. They support loads of boxes these days and that support is second to none. The new plugins that are developed, as well as the regularly improved and updated standard features of the image, make it a no brainer for me. The Vix image is the most user friendly image based on OpenPli, it takes a few hours to get used to, but it soon becomes as natural as using a S*y box or Windows.

I second that the 5402 hd is the easiest box there is , especially for older folk as it's all straightforward .
As i said before , a linux box is nice but for people that don't want any hassle , like , boot this , that has crashed , this needs another setting and so on ... it's a no brainer .
A closed OS is the way to go here .
