I have the same Spiderbox. I got a USB extension lead , for easier access, and use a memory stick with 8 GB memory. I think the HD recording is excellent. With this setup I get about five and a half hours recording.

      Hi

I have also a Spiderb 9000 HD and around 6 months ago, I've buyed a Western Digital External Hard Drive in promotion. It works fine and had never problems with. Be aware that there are some ex hard drives, that will work great with a Spiderb and some don't. I suggest that you buy a Western Digital. I've seen other people be happy as well with a Western Digital. The quality is also fine

I've used a Western Digital Passport 320gb portable external hardrive for nearly 2 years now on my Spiderbox 9000 HD without any problems.

I have a similar set up, a lead with a memory stick in for loading channel lists, softcams etc. and an 8 gb one in the second port at the back for recording on to, which holds enough for my needs.

My Western Digital is the one of 500 gb. I believe the promotion price here in Belgium was around 60-70€ at that time. Calculated is between 50-60 GBP. I'm happy with it and I had always the feeling (still do ) that I did a good bargain.

The setup is also very easy. Connect the 2 cables and then do a format.
After that, you're ready to record. You can for example format the harddisk into the USB menu of the spiderb itself. So there's no need to connect him on your computer for that.

USB drives are so cheap now I generally just use those when I want to record something... Hard disks work too though. I used to use an old WD USB disk in the past... formatted with fat32. Or you can just let the spider box format it which is probably easiest way.

Easy to setup just plug and play! Can either press the record button (the duration is set in the PVR menu), or use the epg to select a program to record or manually set a timer yourself in the timer menu. All pretty straightforward m8.
