    If Chinese Openbox then;
    Poor menus
No ability to see which server you are currently connected when viewing a channel (Basically no CCCamInnfo)
Have to turn box off/on again to commit your changes in CS section. (Just unticking / ticking them doesnt work).
    No OSCam support.
Updates are few and far between - when they do come out - there is little changed since about 2008 / 2009 and no actual progress/development has been made to the functionality of the firmware. Just people repackaging with update satellite listings and channel listings.
Dislikes the Chinese Openbox Receivers, so much..

And what about an original one, I know, openbox supports just cccam and newcamd, and we can not connect via ftp to update firmware, channel list etc, but just by USB(it's rotten). is that right ?

ftp does work and updates can be completed using this method!
just update to the latest firmware if an original box not clone.

openbox ok if you on budget, as long can get pics on screen, but box not to good for the finer details, new boxes always up an comming so openbox manufactures need to improve. that is what i have read up on.

                    I have OpenBox S9(chinese clone),
it works fine with keys I get here on forums, it can record on external USB HD or key (tested).
It is very basic, but you can watch in HD and record and use CCCAM.For the money I think it is OK. There are better of course, but it all comes down to how much money you can invest in the device.

I recently bought the s12 openbox. is a great receiver and the price is very low. It has all the characteristics of s9. The only thing that changes is because the size is very small. The best feature is the speed with which the channels are changed. The defect is that the channel list is difficult to configure and is not well structured, the remote also need to study it a while to understand the actual functions.

the openbox s9, is good when it works, once you start getting the reboots it can be a pain.. that may be linked to the c line you have though, but not 100% on that one

forgot to ask about the ftp bit.
ive orig, box, updated firmware but wont accept the deafault passwords for ftp ? any clues ?

                          hi

tip I've read somewhere is to ask where you got the box (normally default is 0000), if this doesn't work the box probably has to be programmed (with nullmodem RS232 cable).

thanks pan1100.. didnt want to resort to that as ive got the box setup, so the usb mem stick will have to do..

I had an S10 for 3 months and ended up smashing it to pieces because it was a pile of cr@p.

Never once been a decent nor significant firmware update
                              No CCCam info worth mentioning
                              Limited sealion entries

Only thing it did reasonably well was work as a CS server but then again you are limited to a very low number sealions.

As for the comment by "ecsbox360" about "Chinese Openbox" HELLO, they are ALL Made in China!

You get what you pay for and cheap is not always a bargain. £50 more and you can get a DM or VU clone ALSO MADE in China but well supported and well made AND they are indisginuishable from the real thing.

                              Summary: PILE OF JUNK.
