Kathrein ufs 910 Emergency Recovery Procedure If All Else Fails

    Option 1

After opening my brand new Kathrein 910 the first thing I did was to attempt a firmware upgrade. I'm still not sure what caused the problem but using a USB memory stick I almost fried my box within hours of owning it. I tried all of the other recovery procedures without any success.

After 36 hours I finally found a solution which you can see below. Try the other methods first and if all else fails give this a try:

    1. Use 'ufs9100config' to connect to the box.

    2. Input the folowing:

    erase A0200000 A029ffff
    erase A02A0000 A04Dffff
    erase A04E0000 A0Adffff
    erase A0C00000 A0ffffff

    3. Now when you connect with Hyper Terminal you should see the correct characters and also a prompt.

    Now do the following:

    4. Download the "emergency-kernel" and copy "emergency.ub" to your tftp-share —> http://www.megaupload.com/de/?d=66RV985P

    5. Connect the receiver through serial and network port and start the terminalapplication on the serial port

    6. Power on the receiver and press immediately <enter> on the terminal, you should see the uboot prompt (STB7100-Ref>

    7. On uboot prompt set the box ip with "set ipaddr 192.168.x.x" (you have to adapt x.x to your settings, both have to be in the same subnet)

    8. On uboot prompt set the tftp-server ip with "set serverip 192.168.x.x" (you have to adapt x.x to your settings, both have to be in the same subnet)

    9. On uboot prompt copy the kernel with "tftp a4000000 emergency.ub" into memory

    10. Plugin the prepared usb-stick (you can get a full update of all partitions here —> http://www.megaupload.com/de/?d=63MJTFN9)
    Option 2
