Why do some of HD channels come in small screen ?

Some programs from HD channels come in small box (4/3) on my 16/9 tv. I mean not full screen and the others come in full screen (16/9) , and some switch from full to small. I can't strech them neather.
The same channel in digital quality, opens in 16/9 as it should be.

Does anyone has idea why? Can this be resolved?

Not everything broadcast on HD channels is shot in HD, and rather than zooming and cropping the image to fit the 16:9 HD screen, which would look horribly fuzzy, they just leave it in its native 4:3 standard def format.

Have you conect your box with HDMi??in some boxes you can switch in menü between 4:3,16:9 or automatic.sometime a conflict is between your tv and box setup

I would have thought these pro grammes where made before HD and upscaled

Don't think there's conflict between my vu+ duo and my tv.
Pitty I can't stretch the screen when there's HD program in 4:3

on some boxes its a software fault check that you are running the latest software

Some of these shows were NOT made for HD so may this why conflict...
