I would think that they are probably at least 12 months away if not longer, certainly no mention that I have come across and I would imagine that chip developers will take some time to ramp up for this. I suspect that you may see some computer cards with the facility first.

And from my experience: good to have up-to-date hardware, but don't try to be the first.
I remember well my early hd-satbox, well, didn't turn out so well ... bought it too early, better had waited a few months longer.

I agree with you, but this is not a newly born technology, Its there for a quite time now. Wait and see

anyway, the marketers have to flood and fullfill the market with hd,

          before boosting the next tech,

even if this next tech is availlable by now

I agree with you my friend

It's better to wait for some time and as you said "don't be the first to buy"

Wait for the first full test reviews and ofcourse wait to see how many channels are in UHD.

I agree with you at all. Always the first devices are very expensive and have many bugs and and have less features than the models that are developed later.
I recommend to wait a few months, and today there is no 4K channels broadcasting regularly in order to buy a new device.
              Regards.

                Re: 4k STB

I don't know if it's only rumors but I heard that the 4K technology will not be on further development because the 8K technology is coming

                8K UHDTV (4320p) will feature screens displaying 7680 x 4320 pixels – 33.2Mpixel, or 16 times more than a current 1080p HDTV.

The 8K television promises definition with detail so dense that the human eye will have difficulty seeing the pixels even in close proximity.
Sharp is the first manufacturer with a new monstrous 85 inch, 8K glasses-free 3D television

                So, 4k or 8K?

... so far, their sat bandwith seems infinite ...

                    Re: 4k STB

I can not see 8K TV happening anytime soon, the cost for broadcasters would be enormous, there will always be some manufacturer out there trying to the first with new technology but it relies on the chip makers to produce in sufficient volume to keep the costs down, and, once they gear up for production they need to get their money back. The same applies with broadcasters and program makers, once they commit to a particular technology then they will let it run it's course.

                    Regards Mobley3

There is as yet no agreed broadcast standard, and what good is a set capable of only 50/60HZ WHEN AT LEAST 100/120hZ IS REQUIRED. Some research is talking about 700 Hz. Early adopters be very aware, remember VHS/Betamax !

I have heard about 4K 3D videos but for 4K 3D channels I think is too soon.
We have to wait a little bit longer in order 4K technology be developed adequately.
