    LNB (High Quality) question ...

Some sat-friends of me, asked me why I didn't buy yet
a (High Quality) LNB of today ??

Ok, mine is around 15 years old and still working.
Why should I buy a new one, if it's still working ?

Does a (High Quality) LNB make a lot of difference ?
They told me, I could have better reception of transponders.
Specially with bad weather, like rain.

My question now is, is that all ??
Or can I also access more transponders with it ??
Can I finally open all other missing transponders on: Nilesat (7°W) with it ??
    From France, Paris, ...
Some of them, opens in summer, with blue skies all over Europe.
But not all of them. I use a motorized dish of 1.2 meters.

You are out of footprint Nilesat (7°W). I think you need a bigger dish of 2 meters and more. New LNB (with low noise figure) can little help too.

Maybe your friends are right: if you can't receive some transponders you would like to receive, or they are in a border area (well receiving only with good weather), a new high quality LNB is definitely worth.

If out of foot print , then bigger Dish is necessary, then later a new LNB for slightly stabilize the Signals

          hi JeanPiere

I agree with all the above - HQ lnb can help a bit when you're 'on the edge' on weak signals, but don't expect big miracles. Check your footprint (eg on satbeams) and in case the result is really worse than the theoretical one, you can consider another lnb, if not, you won't see any improvement.

Another problem we have here (Belgium + also Netherlands) is that the most 'own' channels are changed (or will be changed) into 8psk (DVB-S2), with a result that on the same transponder as earlier the signal is much worse, especially in bad weather (rainy) conditions - don't know how this is in France.

            Hi @JeanPiere

I agree with your friends and with the other mates of the forum.
Nilesat is a dificult satellite for europe and a new lnb with low noise it's definitely certain that it will help you.
On the other hand, there is a marketing trick with the HD and manufacturers sell lnb HD ready or lnb full HD ...
All story is just a marketing trick because all lnb's are the same without any difference between HD and non HD.
