How affective are Scalar Rings on KU band LNB for a Prime focus Dishes , like some Invacom LNB have, Please share your experience and knowledge here

One thing to consider is that you need to use a Ku-Band LNBF designed for use on a prime focus dish. Most of the LNBFs out there are designed for offset dishes, and they will greatly underperform on a prime focus dish

I thought that scalar rings was used only for lnb on C-Band (prime focus dishes)
and their target was to increase the signal quality.
I have never seen them on offset dishes.

Kalpikos you are right, They are only use with Prime focus Dishes, So these type of LNB and feed horns not commonly available for KU-band

These rings are helping to optimise the efficiency of your reception.
And be carefully with them: they needed to be specfic to the shape of your dish.

I also fully agree on this part: I also believe they are specially for LNB on C-Band (prime focus dishes). I've never heared so far, for KU-LNB band.

I think your getting slightly mixed up on this matter as about 80% of people do the term LNBF is actually an LNB with a built in feedhorn which i would imagine that 99% of users on here buy for a standard offset dish.

the Term LNB is the correct term for an LNB that has no Feedhorn attached and requires either an Offset Feedhorn as used on Channel masters and Gibertini's larger dishes or a Prime focus dish Feedhorn.


Its the most common mistake and the Term LNB has stuck with what we call them now but are in fact LNBF's.

And to answer the OP get a Primefocus feedhorn that matches your dish if you can as it will have an F/D ratio which is matched to a particular feedhorn if you cant get a match try for an adjustable Universal type also consider the Invacom Quad LNB as it is a better performer than the single or twin

digicon , You are very near to my Question. I have a 12 feet Dish and using a Inverto black Ultra, as I attach a wave guide and at end a scalar ring it give me 10 % increase in Signals on my Prime focus Dish, You know 10% is a nice improvement

I see you have converted the Black Ultra to 'Flange' so it will take a Feedhorn, as i said in my previous post try the Invacom Quad Flange type with your Feedhorn as it has excellent Gain property's right across the frequency spectrum unlike the Inverto series

You can just have a idea with Pic, when a wave guide inserted in LNB, it disable its built in scalar ring, so we need a external for this purpose

some manufacturers lnb scalar rings, for example "Chaparral" in the description of the equipment indicate that they operate in c-band and ku-band, to optimize satellite reception.

According to my Information, It help to avoid the unwanted signals, or can say to reduce the noise from Antenna

For Primefocus ku is it a feedhorn and for Cband it call a scaler ring.
There is also a bleu conical ring on the markt for cband to a offset dish
i have use a jonsa 180 primefocus and first i has invacom and adf 120 feed and ir works well
My hobby is also feedhubting so i get improve mij signal and first i replace the invacom lnb for the inverto twin lnb that givs me 10 % more signal.
Then i replace the lnb and holder to the 1 peace lnb from chinabrave after mails they confirm the 90 db signal and 0.1 db noise but the signal is the same as the invacom lnb. I ****** on the internet and found that are clone lnb`s. Now i have another eurostar lnb 70db 0.3 db and my signal is mutch stronger then al other lnb`s. I don`t know if it make a diffrent for the signal when i replace the lnb for the santech or fuji lnb.

You van also upgrade the feedhorn adf120 for a Seavey ESR-120-2 feedhorn but they are expencive.

I just bought the Inverto Black Pro with its own feed horn, LNB seems good but have less conversion gain compare to Invert Black Ultra also its feed horn disappoint me, it have fixed scalar ring, Now I am looking for its any modified fitting
