    Re: Efficiency of Dish

Nobody in my neighbor have this size of Dish, usually they have smaller then mine and they are far behind in total channel reception, I think there would be full hotbird with 3.65 m Dish

        Re: Efficiency of Dish

I recently found a issue with the setting of Dish Antenna, Its Focal length is fitted with 55" , but with few calculation program, it should be 56.7". Is that matter much ?

ofcourse this formol for distance lnb depend to dish (offset) but in normal dish you must test for receive best signal sometimes changing dish location cause to better result.

Its not easy to move one place to other for Dish like this. Its motorized Dish, which covers 128 E to 3 E

                    Re: Efficiency of Dish

the distance between the lnb and center of the dish is a fixed value and manufacturers of satellite antennas focus on this parameter, we can change these settings only in minimal parameters.

That's true, but even small charges can make a difference.

The biggest efficiency factor is hitting the focal point of the dish. I get a 2 db drop for the first 2mm i go off-centre. At 3 mm off, it is about 5 db on 180cm solid.

Please mind this, it is not a some branded dish and there is no per-assign setting along with it

                            Re: Efficiency of Dish

                            It's simple:

Optimal adjusted dish and lnb in the correct focal point means best performance.

Or do you mean e. g. one 80cm dish can have a better performance than another 80cm dish?
That's defenitly true because cheap dishes often are not optimal focused so that there is no optimal focal point for the lnb!

You can say it cheap, It cost me about 800 $ without actuators

When installing a satellite dish with single LNB is very difficult to make a mistake with the definition of the focal distance, but when installing the multifeed are already required to fine-tuning and need to do a lot of adjustments.
