I think that the moisture is the worst enemy for a lnb or diseqc.

I don't use a special cover for them but always put a lot of colour tape to the f-connectors.
This prevent any oxidation in cable and generally several of problems.

I quite agree with you !!!
That's the weakest point in the whole chain ... connectors ... if some oxidation take place you will have a huge insertion loss.

I never use colored tape to the f-connectors, for several years I have had no problems with oxidation of the cable and connectors, diseqc is without cover, although we have often rains and winter sleet, then snow. Installers satellite dishes are not advised to use color tape. This is my opinion.

I have seen many times some cables even with pure water inside

I think that the cost of a colour tape and the time you spend
to wrap the f - connectors are meaningless.

This depends upon your location if you living in a wet country I would use protection and here in sweden weather temperatures goes below minus -20 c protecting the f-connectors is a priority...

same here never use tape because i saw a pro to installing once and since then i just to do the same, but i bet that it cant to any damage to secure your connections with same tape.

Is this a problem,when LNB's is freezed and covered with snow+ice,to unfreeze them to pour over them with warm water?Because I have this problem couple of days ago with my multifeed,and I affraid to break the ice with my hands.Just waiting for sun .Can I do this? I think they are waterproff.

If the front of the LNB is clear of snow and ice I would not worry too much about it, an LNB will probably work slightly better when it is cold, some of the lower figures quoted for the performance of the LNB are most likely measured with it under these very conditions, just clear heavy snow off if this is possible and also off the dish,unless you are loosing the signal completely ?.

the upper side of the lnb ve no effect on signals quality if it is wet or coverd with snwo just protect the lnb lower side from both rain and snow

sure youre lnb is waterproof... u can heat with warm water and remove the ice and then dry it. if you dont you have evt. more ice

Hi iliyavet,
I've solved this problem(even my dish is installed on my terrrace),
I mounted a motor, so when the dish abd LNB is full of snow, I move right the dish e.g. 30 West , so after a wile everithing slight down!

In snowy and cold area like Alps, you can use de-icing dishes like this (2nd)

If you have water problems with your lnb, this lnb is broken or damaged.
You will have to exchange it. Lnbs are waterproof.

Possible reasons for raining problems are the f-plugs, cables or outdoor positioned switches after years.

I found there's a big problem when you live in such a rainy place like Saint-Petersburg, Russia or London, UK. With a water on LNB you may loose a SAT signal completely.
To avoid it I made such a setup



It's a plastic bottle (5 liter for big dish, 0,5 liter - for small) cut with a scissors and attached over LNB
Now I don't affraid the rain

the wet lnb doesn't affect so much the sat reception, the problem is that the rain limit the dish focus to lnb
