    Dish size. Realistically...

Ok. I'm narrowing it down a bit but what dish size should I opt for realistically to get as many satellites as I can here in the north-west? I know the advice is as big as you can afford/manage/planning permission but realistically, all I'm interested in is the sports (particularly footie - and particularly LFC).

I can get 28.2E on a sky dish.
26E is going to be beyond me to all accounts.

(I used to have a 1.2m dish for Thor on D2Mac but that dish's long gone and I don't know what programming I can get using my openbox on those channels).

So I'm beginning to think an 80/90cm dish will suffice for my needs but I don't want to limit my options for the future.

Sorry for the ramble but any thoughts/advice welcome.

    McrRed,
to be safe, go for the 90cm, should cover most popular sats.
Do not send me iptv/cline requests,

technical or iptv/cline server questions in PM!

    I will not answer!

      I reckon a td88 or a 1 metre orbital would be ok.
Some people have suggested a 90cm would pick up 26e in the nw so you might get a sniff if you get it spot on.

Remember a 1.1 metre dish requires planning permission unless it's a garden mount.
Then again I don't think you'll be getting a council flunky with a tape measure for the sake of a couple of inches.

              Hi McrRed.
              Im located in the Northwest.
I have a motorised zone 2 sly dish, self installed - pull in pretty much everything from 42E to 50W(can go further but not much there)
I can pull in a few 26E transponders, but barely 30% quality.

The size of a Zone 2 is about 55cm x 75cm. So less surface area than a 80cm dish.

Hopefully this will give you an idea of what you can get in your location.
Dislikes the Chinese Openbox Receivers, so much..

You can pull in some of 26e on a zone 2 sly dish in the north west and I can't on an iss 80 in the south east?
Think there must be something wrong with my setup then.
Or maybe it's just the crappy vu+ duo clone tuners.

with a 90 cm dish you should receive a good signal, if you want to go on more secure, buy a 1 m diameter

                    Thanks guys, that's really helpful.

I'm off to the supplier in the morning so I hope to coming back dragging a shiny new 90/100cm mesh dish and a technomate 2600 (metal gear solid) motor.

If all goes well I MIGHT actually get to watch some telly!!!

If you want a quality motor go for a dark motor, Really quiet and fast.
Can't go wrong with a dark motor mate.

I pick up good signals on 26E on a 1Mtr dish in Dublin. Typically around 80% S and 56-60 % Q . I get around 200 channels on Badr4. You should get a better signal than me I reckon.
                        Hope this helps.
                        Regards Mobley3

Yes 90-100 works for me and gets me all the mainstream stuff at an acceptable size...

What do you mean by garden mount? I have mine on a pole, does that suffice?

Do you need planning permission for having it on the wall garden side or front of house side?

I think a 1.1m dish would be perfect, would give you the power to pick up anything if you can get it.

go with a 1m gibby or td110 if possible with a inverto black ultra lnb . this will get you all the popular sats with decent rain margin for the bad weather, regards mdt
