    Re: Mesh or solid

c-band is more forgiving than Ku with a mesh dish but for normal sized dishes quality of manufacture and components is more important than mesh or solid although most quality off-set dishes that are intended for normal DTH reception are solid apart from zone1/2 s*y dishes and cheap motorised dishes(iss ect). if you can afford it go for a resin or aluminum dish, regards mdt

      Re: Mesh or solid

I ended up with a solid but only because it was really cheap. If I'd have had the money I would've gone for mesh.

There were quite a few sources for the 90cm-120cm mesh dishes and with decent prices (I won't advertise them here but they're easily enough found on the net).

I have no experience with mesh dishes but I read on the internet that it may cause signal strenght drop at some certain frequencies. I think lenght of pores on the dish is smaller than wavelenght of radio beam. so mesh dish still reflects beam. as the frequency gets higher wavelenght gets smaller. that means c band waves have bigger wavelenghts than ku band waves.
