As bokkie said: most boxes only recognise FAT32, why do you want to change into NTFS? .
Sometime the biggest partition made by FAT32 is only 4GB, and the receiver doesnt recognise it. You will have to change the partition type from FAT32 to NTFS, which makes the partition size bigger and recogniseable by the receiver.

I think different stb have different requirements.
I would suggest you ask in the correct section for your specific stb.

has been done meanwhile by mahrkpat

        @mahrkpat:
there's also a section 'Satlover Forums > Satellite TV Receiver Section > All Other Receivers', perhaps you can also pose your question there (Openbox is also discussed there)

I have a 1 tb Hitachi deskstar which works great. I would advise a low energy hdd as some clones have psu issues

              Re: Which hard drive?

I have a 7200 rpm hdd and whilst mine is fine, I would suggest a 5400 rpm is better.
noise, heat and power consumption can be an issue with 7200 rpm hdd.

                hi guys

Any feedback on HDD's that in the beginning worked well, but weren't recognised anymore after some weeks or months? I used to have this a few times (on 1 box). Problem (for now solved) with a smaller HDD.
                Also, logical explanation welcome!

Hi Pan1100, If you remember a week ago( approximately) I gave you a link about the HDD Recognition in one of the threads. You said they were working fine. I think its time to check them!

                      Re: Which hard drive?

I had a 16gb USB stick. It had the same problem. It would just disappear from the menu and there was no way to browse through it. After I tried the earlier stated procedure, it is fine and never had any problems with it. Don't understand why was it doing it though.

                        hi microchick

I remember, I even thanked you then

There I also replied all is working fine now (but learned it the hard way).
My question here was if anybody has had the same issue, and if there's an explanation that suddenly the HDD isn't recognised anymore?

If one day the problem comes again, I already noted to try your suggestion.
