    C Band Dish

Are wall mounted C Band dishes available in Europe? What sizes do you get?

    Re: C Band Dish

Ku band was an evolution to C band
C band dishes are normally large dishes, circular and prime focus.
Africa with M-net, moved from C band to Ku band, thus smaller dishes.
It’s not easy to find large dishes in Europe because Ku band in now more diffused and aesthetically large dishes take up too much space.
Moreover, there are less and less transmissions in C band
Dishes up to 1.2 m are usually offset and oval.
Dishes more than 1.2 m are definitely prime focus and circular

The African Beams carry few channels whereas 10E has got 105 channels on C. Only one channel on Ku. and that is FTA.
Very few shares on African beams.

my dish is an off-set rasanansa, a little bit bigger than a 120cm, in fact its a 270cm off-set.

          Re: C Band Dish

You would need a C band dish in two cases.
          1) You are an enthusiast about satellite dishes.
          2) You want Asian channels.
C band is still a popular beam in Asian continent. All their networks and channels are transmitted in C band. If you want to get Asian satellites in the UK you would probably need a really big dish like Toby's. I would think prime focus would work better than an off set but again, i havent use them in the UK so can suggest. Toby would be able to advise.

            Re: C Band Dish

it is difficult to mount C band dish on wall, since it have big diameter
for an argument you can mount it on wall

i think you can use a BSC Conical Scalar on a C Band LNB on an Offset Dish of about 1meter.

What is a BSC Conical Scalar? Would like to know about it

                  Re: C Band Dish

                  this might explain.

Conical scalar ring is used to receive better signal when you install your favorite WS International or other brands of C band or C/Ku band LNBF on an offset satellite dish. The conical scalar ring is specifically designed for an offset satellite dish rather than a price focus dish. It's very similar to the Ku band scalar rings that you see on the LNBF. The conical scalar ring basically converts the LNBF from a prime focus LNBF to an offset satellite dish LNBF.

That was a good explaination. Just wandering which technology is more advance? C band or Ku band?

Neither is really more advanced, they just use different frequency bands. Historically C-band signals were/are of lower power so you need a bigger dish to pick them up. Ku band satellites are usually of higher power and therefore you do not need such a big dish to pick them up. Reception possibility/quality though is according to your position relative to the satellites beam. reni

Quite correct and freely available from most enthusiast satellite supply shops, for the UK your looking at an offset of about 1.2m and above to receive anything of interest
