    Is LNB OK?

HI. Im very new to the sat scene so please be patient.

I have a openbox s11 (openbox s10 with added scart) coming soon. Im hoping to receive HD channels.

My question is this: I have an old sky+ dish on the wall and the LNB has two wires coming out. Will I be able to pick up HD channels using this LNB? My old sky+ box was not the hd one. So will my openbox s11 be able to pick up HD using this LNB?

    Please help experts

    Kind regards

If your box is HD ready, don't worry about LNB, you'll see HD channels.
    Regards.

There are no special HD LNBs. If it's written on it, it's only business trick, which has increased interest in the product.

Yes. you can see all hd channels if your reciever support mpeg4 and mpeg2 hd channels and dvb-s2 reception. it is independent from LNB.

I would think if you only have a sky dish your reception would be limited

Not Really if the OP only wants Sky through a Zone 1/2 dish then any HD receiver will pick up all available SD and HD channels.

The only concern is how old is the dish and any alignment problems. But if receiving fine on your old box then you will have no problems.

Of corse you can, without problem, your OPENBOX S11 HD is DVB-S2 and supports MPEG-II / H.264 Hardware decoding

                  Hi Montebox,

                  How did you get on?

Even if the LNB is no good it is a very simple process to swap with a new one. These can be purchased very cheaply on eBay.

Or if the dish has gone slightly out of alignment - very simple to cure - with the right guidance.

There are plenty of people on this site to help you in the process.

                    Re: Is LNB OK?

hi montebox, dont think anyone will bite your head off here, a very friendly site.
i have 2 sky dishes and both have got different lnbs on them, the sky dishes have there own way of connecting lnb to focal arm so i would not bother trying to adapt with different lnb, i found you could receive a couple of sats, but a 80cm dish not very expensive, i am going to use the 2 i have got for nilesat 7w, an badr 26e, in cyprus as those beams over there are just as strong as sky is over here.

Buy yourself a decent dish mate dont mess about with sky dish rubbish, EU law now states that you can have a 1 metre dish, then you can get some decent sats.

obviously if you only want sky you will be ok with what you got but there is a whole world of tv out there, if i was you i would go the whole hog with a bigger dish an motor an with a bit of know how you will be rewarded. but as you say if sky only wanted there are very good servers an deals out there and very cheap.

I had also an older LNB first. Around 12 years old. I don't know how old you're LNB is ? But last summer, I did buy a new one and I'm very happy with it. The latest new LNB's are great. I even can open now more transponders than before. Also my signals are much better. I would say: test it first and if you're not happy, buy a new LNB. It doesn't cost much and you will have much fun with it, like I do now
