    Help please!

I have a 9200 Bell PVR and the hard disk is done! Does anyone know where I can purchase a WD2500JD-57HBCO? Have a difficult time finding. Is there a replacement for this HD?

Is this a internal or external drive?
If its external you can connect an external hard drive via the USB ports, preferrably a drive with at least 500GB will suffice.

"It doesn't work" isn't really very helpful. What do you mean?

Does it spin-up when powered on?

Is it the HDD initialisation that doesn'twork?

Or do you mean you can't record to it?

            Re: Help please!

If its an internal drive, you needed to match a certain part of the model number correctly. If you just bought a general hard drive then that maybe is your problem.

                Re: Help please!

It should be a simple matter of swapping the new hard drive in and out with the old one then... From researching, the only thing I found that might be causing a conflict, is if you are using an external hard drive at the same time. If you are then take it out and try otherwise I can't seem to find another solution for this.

I found some commands that you might need to set up the hard drive possibly...

                5200/9200 models

                Format HDD:
You should be at the Memory Dump screen.
                Press Play, Play, Recall
                You will lose all recordings!

                HDD Short Diagnostics (DST-1):
You should be at the Memory Dump screen.
                Press Pause, 1

                HDD Long Diagnostics (DST-2):
You should be at the Memory Dump screen.
                Press Pause, 2
If errors are found it may format the hard drive!

HDD Long Diagnostics (DST-2) including Transfer Rate test:
You should be at the Memory Dump screen.
                Press Pause, 3
If errors are found it may format the hard drive!

                HDD FET Diagnostics:
You should be at the Memory Dump screen.
                Press Pause, 6

Diagnostics + Reset LBA Failure Condition:
You should be at the Memory Dump screen.
                Press Pause, 8
                You may lose all recordings!

The hard drive runs, but when I go to press the pvr or rec tells me "Unable to access this featureat this time, Data not available". basically the same message before it put the new hard drive.i don't know.

Have a try by reformatting the using the commands above I gave and I will try and research later tomorrow to see what exactly "Unable to access this featureat this time, Data not available" does and how to fix...

Can you explain what you mean by incompability, was the new hard drive you bought wrong? Did you buy another new hard drive on top on the new one you initially purchased?

Yes, it is usually a FAT32 format for satellite recievers.

Just generally for anyone trying to format:

A very good software to do this simple format is called: SwissKnife. Put it into ******, it will be the very first result from download dot com. Make sure you delete the initial partition first then create a new FAT32 one.
