      there are receivers that don't have an ethernet port so they use that kind of cable to run servers cccam newcamd abox ... using program like HDVB or NewcamdSTR through a PC
      and many new laptop dont have a RS232 ( Serial port) so they should use that kind of converter to do the job

          You must note that there are 2 types of RS232 cable.
          1.- Null modem
          2.- DB9

          The first one is the one EUROASTRA has showed us at the first post of this thread, is called crossover cable.

          The second cable is apparently the same, but it has no crossover cable, each pin ends on the same pin on the other side.

          Some receivers use DB9 and other uses Null modem.

          So, perhaps, your computer will not recognize any of them.
