I need help. I have a problem scanning a satellite.

    Hello all,

I wanted to watch the Switzerland - England game last night (and found out it was on 62E).

So I went to my receiver, and realised 62E is not stored in it. I opened the satellite installation (as shown in pic 2). Pressed number 1 to access the satellite configuration and got Pic 1. As you can see, Intelsat902 (62E) is listed.

Next I went back to satellite installation (pic 2) and selected 6, automatic multisat search. The menu for this is now shown in pic 3, but Intelsat902 62E is missing.

First question, how do I get 62E available so that I can scan it?

I suspect it's a problem with configuration files, but I cannot figure it out.

    Thanks in advance,

    Tony.

PS. I also tried the motor config (pic 4). Intelsat902 is shown here, but when I select "go", the screen refreshes and nothing happens, the motor does not move (pic 5). Maybe this has something to do with the problems I've got.

I don't know your receiver but are you sure are stored tp into settings for this satellite? I say this because Azbox, the receiver I've has a list of tp for each satellite and if this list is empty receivers don't starts the scan.

It's a Technomate TM600 (it's in my signature). It's a kind of Dreambox clone (not a clone, but runs Linux and can run a lot of Dreambox plugins).

Is the Azbox a linux based receiver?

And where do you set the list of TP?

      Followup :

Thanks Satman, that was the problem. I got an updated satellites.xml from an online generator. Now I can see all the satellites in all the places I expect to.

But the motor will still not drive to 62E for some reason. Am I missing another config file? Or do I need to manually store all the positions in the motor?

Re: I need help. I have a problem scanning a satellite.

I think the best way is indeed to store the positions manually.
I do this myself to program satellites. I select a transponder and start moving dish till I find the correct signal.
It's possible that you can't recept some satelites, (for example because of trees, smaller dish, position of your dish, etc)

        good luck

I've got a clear line to the sky so definitely should be able to get them.

I'm also sure it's a software problem, I just cannot figure out what to change to make it work.

Maybe the satellite 62E isn't programmed in your rotor configuration.

I think that's correct, I just need to figure out now how to program it in.

Re: I need help. I have a problem scanning a satellite.

Hi Tony, what kind of motor do you've? If you're using Usals protocol you just need to add the satellite into list and then go into satellite's list and choose move to. If you use Diseqc protocol you need to store manually the dish position. Be sure the position is not out of range from satellites motor limits, it depends by what kind of motor you've and by what is your center satellite (it changes by land to land). Also check motor angle limits stored into your receiver. Clerly before to change motor limits settings be sure there aren't mechanical problems to let move the motor on 62 East.

Yes Azbox is linux box but it has a different cpu compared to Dremboxes, so it uses another kind of firmware not compatible.

The motor is a Technomate TM2300 Super.

I think I need to just add the satellites into the motor config (I'm just not sure how).

What protocol do you use? Usals or Diseqc2? If you use Diseqc2 you need to move the motor using the motor menu. In this case I suggest you to move your motor to the eastern position you've stored then move the motor using manual commands (move to east) into motor setup menu.

Have you figured this out yet? Does your motor even most eastwards when trying to set a position or move to the position? Is your dish big enough because reading around on other forums they say 3m dish to pick it up in eastern europe... Maybe the manual limits on the motor is not set to the maximum?

I just cannot get that sat here (too far over the horizon).

                        So all sorted now.
