Re: Cheap cable
I can not think of any reason, other than purely financial, why anyone would knowingly use cheap quality cable. Apart from the Signal loss through the cable, you are leaving yourself open to all sorts of Interference due to bad screening. The longer the run is, the more of a problem it becomes. I would never use anything less than RG 6, or CT 100, for a normal setup and something like CT 125 if you have to run longer lengths.

Re: Cheap cable
... also avoid any intermediate impedance discontinuities
like intermediate cable connectors, or like
- window pass through connector,
- mecanical coax cable constriction
-
for sat dish locations tests purpose,
do prefer a one unique longer cable,
than 2 or 3 short cables with intermediate connectors .
thoses connectors reflects signal as echoes (noise) and
absorbs some signal strength ( loss )Comment

Re: Cheap cable
Hi rizwan
In my opinion, if you will use a sort cable to connect the sat dish with the box , then you will not have big problem by using a cheap cable.
If you want to use many meters of cable (more than 30), I think that it's better to use a better quality cable and pay more money in order to minimize the losses.
You can find a good quality cable in a good price if you will buy it from the net.
Prefer the one that have the better characteristics with min losses. If You Like My Post..... Please Press the Thanks ButtonComment

Re: Cheap cable
In my opinion when you buy cheap cable to save money, from LNB to diseqc and to decoder, you will be saving money for the short term because cheap cable tend to crack easily with sun heat and then rain water can penetrate more and damage your reception
Good Quality cable will serve you more , more resisting to heat and so longer before you need changing
And yes cheap cable will reduce your sat signal
I gained more than 10% just by changing the cable, I know the old was a bit worn , I had it for 5 years, but the one I have now is better quality and stronger even to connect to the f-connecterVu+solo & dreambox

Re: Cheap cable
My advise,if the inner core is not solid Copper then stay well away from it. you will probably find that the cable will not have any copper screening foil and also a very poor braid, a sure recipe for problems. The Dielectic ( inner soft core) should also be solid ie not cored

Re: Cheap cable
what I meant was , that some of those who sell cables, try to sell you cable as the best there is at a lower price
the truth is they bring cheap ones and sell them a little less than a really good cable, and tell there clients like me, who don't really know , that its the best type of cable around, and it is a bargain
This happened to me with my old cable which I changed recently, and gained on the signal with just changing it

Re: Cheap cable
Try Webro WF 100. Find on eB.y. I have used it and no problems.Otherwise do a search for RG6, CT100. As my previous post, if you need longer run( more than 30mtrs) then look for the CT 125, note you will need appropriate connectors for this.
