    wireless internet to wired

Hi, i like to go from wireless internet signal to wired so i can use it on a receiver with no wireless and no option for a usb dongle. So i will need a device that will catch the wireless signal and then gives me a wire rg45 to connect to my box. i know its possible i just need the devise name or mark so i can search it out on internet.

      I remember this device,
it's the Vonets Wifi Bridge VAP11G.

Very popular device for dm500s and all dreambox.

There is also meny other wifi bridge or you can use a tp-link router.

Here you can find more info:

I know about Vonets but it doesn't do the job, i need something like a router that can do this.to take a good wireless signal and give it back to me with a wire. so no better hardware than Vonets on market yet?

As I said above, you can also take a tp-link router.
I suggest you the TP-LINK TL-WA5110G that can be used as access point, client and repeater.
          It's price is about 33€.

Even cheaper, Tp-Link TL-WR841N (about 20 €), can work in client mode (the feature you need) at 300Mbps.

              Re: wireless internet to wired

the problem is that i will use it on a cable receiver and the ip address as well as the mac address should ''look'' that they are coming strait fro the rouder. if i use vonets or similar i thing i will have a problem.

Not sure what are your doubts, but with OpenWrt installed on a cheap router (such as TL-WR841N) the "client mode" can be "bridged" to stay in the same subnet, or in "gateway mode", to create a different subnet.
Furthermore, mac address can be overwritten (fake).

so my friend you are telling me that this will not be a problem for me? as i said before this bridge must be able to make wireless signal wired and the receiver should "see" that the signal is coming from the rouder. People here told me tha vonets cant do the job and no one got it work so far. i will have to give it a try so i will search it locally and hope i will get lucky, 99% of my electricals are from internet but dont have the time to wait at this.

                    Re: wireless internet to wired

If wireless is 802.11 b/g/n (i.e. the so called WiFi) and not "3G", the router that I mentioned before should do the job.
I still don't understand why a network device (your receiver, in this case) should operate only with a given router and not with a further router behind the first one, but if you really have this restriction, you can configure it in a "bridged client mode", so it should be transparent to the receiver.

But keep in mind at least two things:
                    - this is only theory
                    - you should prepare yourself to flash a custom firmware (OpenWrt) to the router and read something about network configurations (anyway I could give you all support you need because I'm quite familiar with this stuff).

                      Dear kostis

                      Do you have static IP?
                      ...I Don't think so
Your Ip is changing every time that a power cut happens or if you switch off your router.
So, you don't have the same IP each time.
If you worry about your subscription, and what your server can see from your line.... just don't worry.
They look for other info, and be sure that they don't care about your IP.
Finally, I believe that the external IP will be the same with your cable router, but maybe there is a problem with the mac address.

I have a friend who lives in an area that gets free wireless where he is. We solved the problem for his dreambox by running a RJ45 crossover cable from his laptop to his Dreambox and bridging the connection. There is a guide to do it here http://www.wikihow.com/Bridge-an-Internet-Connection hope this helps. It did for him and only cost a few pounds for the cable

                          Hi,

Vonets or its equivalents are the best
If your problem with the Vonets is its power cable
you can use an USB adapter to power it,
like those we use to charge the smartphones

                          Hope this will help

                            Re: wireless internet to wired

I prefer router to vonets bridge because router can act as vonets bridge but also as many other devices (access point, for example) and is also more configurable.
Not least, the possibility to replace antenna with directive (external) types.

I have tried the vonets bridge and found it to be very unreliable with lots of drop outs and loss of internet connection
