Occasional dish movement

I've noticed that my motorised disk occasionally moves slightly - just a few degrees - occasionally - normally at night. Its connected to a spiderbox - but I find the same thing happens when connected to non motorised box...

If I then do a "goto 0" command it goes back in-line...

Do you think this could be dodgy cable? Or more likely motor?

appreciate any thoughts...

Do you mean that your dish is moving by itself?
It would be better if you give us more info about your motor and generally your installation, in order to help you.

Have somethimes some litle movement to with my motorized dish, I think it's because of the wind or so. Anyway not a big problem to solve problem very fast.

Let your dish move to the sat position installed in memory.
Go to your positioner setup option on your receiver.
With option fine tuning just move your dish step by step to east or west till you get better signal again. Then you lock the position on the same number you've originaly locked the satelite.

Its a dark motor and it is connected to a spiderbox.

I can understand the wind moving the dish. What I dont get is why just doing goto 0 on the spiderbox seems to fix it... I would have expected to have had to go and re-align it if it moved on the post...

I've never seen it do it but I assume it moves slightly by itself. I guess it could just be wind moving it on the gears inside...

I just think so.
Maybe gears are loosely. You can check it easily: just try to move the dish by hand on both directions.

This is a common problem with a few setups I have seen. It could be down to a loose motor, and to solve this problem I usually send it the opposite side, ie if it was east, then go far west and it jogs the dish back into position! This occurs generally on a TM2600...

This happens a lot if the dish in a high wind area or maybe the dish is to big for the motor i had the same problem when i was using a silent gold motor always having to realign the dish

Right... its an 80cm dish so not massive. But it is on a very exposed area (end of house - south facing).

I will try moving it by hand and also try going far east and west.
