Expanding the receiver capacity of your dish

    Hi all,

I have heard that you can attach a device that will enable you to get signals of satellite dishes around+/- 10 degree interval with the dish you are using. For example if i am using hotbird now and as far as i remember it is 13 degrees then with this device i can get signals of dishes between 3-23.

has anyone heard something like this before or my dish seller is just trying trick me?

any help would be appreciated thanks

i have heard of using clear plastic for the LNB instead of white to increase signal by 5points not anything about a device.

Even if it was true, it would be a stupid thing: you'd have interferences with trasponders of different satellites, unless he was meaning a multiple LNB, that is very popular, for example Astra+Hotbird, but they are not together, you switch satellites...

hi vanbasten. you can explain about what the device told you the seller of satellite dishes. for example with one LNB you can catch two or three satellites, but only in the next orbital position to example 4e, 4.8e, 7e, but not all transporders can be scanned, but you're talking about over a wide range.

The only way would be to have a muti lnb system, if not a motorised system,
along with a multi switch to switch between satellites or separate receivers for
          each satellite.

According to me it is technically impossible. Satellites can transmit on the same frequencies and it would cause interferences.

multiple lnb does not expand your signal receiving capabilities right? and where can i find this plastic thing? whenever it snows or rains i tend to lose signal

Sounds to me like he is talking about a Multi Lnb setup, which you would need to use with a
Diseqc switch for the number of Lnb's that you have on the mount. This would not increase your
signal strength of course, only give you access to more channels.

                Regards Mobley3

ofcourse it depend to location and kinds of sat for example with selfsat dish in euro you can get several directions but depend to location and signal coverage

by the way do you guys adjust the satellite by yourselves or do you hire someone to do it like me? i mean they have one of those digital receivers but not sure if there is shortcut to changing the satellites alone

I always make the adjustment by my self.
                      It's not so difficult
Some times I use a mini tv and my receiver , so I can see what I do.
Other times, I use my phone and my brother. I adjust the sat dish and my brother tell me on the phone if the signal is ok.

                      As for the plastic thing....
I don't know what is that and I haven't hear about something like that

yes a multiple LNB is a good solution to avoid motorized if you like to get Astra+Hotbird on one dish. couldn't find any other device that is expanding the receiver capacity.

Hi guys, as it is said in the first message from vanbasten, there is a device for reception of several satellites on one лнб. vanbasten you about it like to tell us? what kind of device is it?

From what I understood it is not a digital thing but I need to ask in more details. I just did not ask further questions because i am under the impression that these guys are just trying to rip off people and it is strange that no one on this forum has not heard of something like this before. i mean if it were so useful then it would be really popular right?

anyhow, i thought in order to be able to get signals from several satellites with one dish you need a motorized dish which o dont have. but what a motorized receiver and this so called plastic thing are doing are similar and it can be really useful provided it is cheap. plus i would not have to change the satellites often from the roof

I am able to go and talk with these satellite guys on weekends so i will ask this device in more detail.
