    Shared (neighbors-community) antenna.

I want to install a single dish for all residents of my community.
At this moment we have one DTT terrestrial antenna to all neighbors.

The idea it's to watch Canal+ channels from ASTRA.

    It's possible to do this?

Yes it is possible, but how many neighbors and where do you live?

Very Thanks for your quick reply.

We are 25 neighbors in Spain.

      How can I do this?

        Re: Shared (neighbors-community) antenna.

Simply use e. g. a 8in1 lnb in the focus of the dish.
Switch in lnb included means independend sat- connections.

You can cascade the signal with switches to how many you want.

        Cheap solution for all.

Wow, that is quite a project.
You'd need a multiswitch coming off an quad lnb with a feed off the multiswitch to each household.
But that is a lot of cable and a big project!

For 25 neighbors you need a centralized antenna distribution system because
LNBs with 25 independent outputs do not exist.

i saw it working like this in many places but i also hear complaints in some apartments that signal is low. it turn out to be cheap materials (lnb wires etc) in most cases but some of them still got problems (first floor) and get a dish on their own. since your are so many get the best stuff and a pro to install the dish so you got no future worries.

                Re: Shared (neighbors-community) antenna.

And remember, you will need a signal amplifier to boost up the signal. Normaly a good signal spliter to 25 will have this included

25 is too much for only the lnb-signal.

But it's possible, many houses have even more neighbours in one house.

depending on the type of cable it is possible cascading up to 5 multiswitch without the use of compensating amplifier.

                    Re: Shared (neighbors-community) antenna.

Your project can be done very easy.

                    You need:
                    1 sat dish,
                    1 twin lnb,
                    2 multiswich x16
                    and cables.
Of course each family will have their own sat receiver.

                    A multiswich x16 costs about 140 Euro.
I suggest you a multiswitch x16 and not with more ports because of the price.

before you get something like this hxxp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIAX-TMM-Multiswitch-5x16-I-O-Bars-READ-DESCRIPTION-/181078790399?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Satellite_Multiswi tchers&hash=item2a292310ff you may check what the community block allready had. i saw one like this once and had 2 inputs (or more im not sure) and 16 outputs and the residents had satellite and terrestrial with only one similar box.

The way to this is use a SCR lnb this is a purpose built solution for community
sharing of satellite in Europe (not u.k).

                        __http://www.triax.com/en/FindProduct.aspx?category=%7B905E0B39-6011-4386-9368-B9E7B5C32FC6%7D

But may be expensive each neighbour must invest in compatible satellite
receiver, only a single cable for distribution and each neighbour can choose
                        what to watch.

                          Re: Shared (neighbors-community) antenna.

As I can see there are several solutions to solve this situation.

A neighbor told me that when the houses were built, five years ago, the electrician left cables and distributors ready to support satellite television, but i don't know how much or how is "ready".

Tomorrow I will see how it is now our antenna installation (cables,distributors,amplifiers...) to get more data.

I will post all the information, I can get, to see what is the most appropriate solution.

Thank you very much to all for your comments and your support

Personally I don't trust a cable net made by an electrician ...years ago.
Distributors, old cables cut and join again... all these can cause significant signal lost.

I suggest you to make a new installation with new cables directly from sat dish - multiswich to each sat reseiver.
I know that you have to spent more money but believe me this is the right way.
