    Luneburg Lens Satellite Antenna

I noticed these pictures decided to investigate it seems this to be the
future of satellite dishes what do you think?

These Lunegurg Lens antennas have lot of advantages because of its unique features. The major advantage is that data from multiple satellites can be captured using a single antenna. This can be done my using multiple feeder lines. Hence, in the future, we can have a single antenna which can be used together for simultaneous reception of telephony, television and internet.

In their page, it's an antenna named HSP 40A
and I think it's the best product of this company.

It's only 40cm , can take up to 8 lnb, and has:
      Antenna Gain = 33.8 dbi @12 GHZ / 34.2 dbi @12.7 GHZ and
Antenna Efficiency = 95% the same @ 360 degree Azimuth.

The Full cost of production for a complete Set
      (Lens antenna + 6 L.N.B`s + DISEQc switch ) = 49 Euro.

The price it's really very low, but I don't know the abilities of this antenna.
I would like to hear somebody that has tested something like this.

i think its good for strong coverage i mean strong signal
but how diffrence dishes create focus in one place?

It is also for Strong signals Area, How can we use this instead of big Antennas

I've seen some tests in Portugal in that they fill soccer balls with sugar (yes sugar) with a 3dB performance higher than normal dishes (3dB mean 50% of the diameter of an antenna)... according to what they say.

Look up on ****** for "lutenna" and will find several projects and tests.

I'm not able to open the link, are you?
I would gladly read to give an opinion, even if I think that usually all these new big inventions are fakes...even if not so absurd like sugar...

Edit: OK: I've read, and now I remember to know it from Physics, but there are some problems in implementing it for Sat-reception, it's strange to hear that it already exists, perhaps it's only a prototype...anyway it could allow consumer applications, but for people like us I think that a big dish and a motor will remain better for a long time

Can this type of setup support a satellite which has a weak reception because the signals would all be split and so a lot of sensitivity and quality would be lost...
