    SAT Myth Busters

    SAT Myth Busters

    Reverse sat dish installed.

I take this to indicate that the reversed installed antenna is MYTH where there is an obstruction to the satellite is just that, a myth, a lie, a falsehood, since the signal is reaching the lnbf at the same angle, but the antenna seems to point more upward. If an obstruction prevents the signal reaches the antenna in the usual position, will also affect the inverted position. The only exit to avoid the obstacle, is to place the antenna in a new position from which the satellite signal can come freely to the plate. The antenna is used inverted in low horizon satellites, other technical issues such as noise from the antenna and ground noise, among others.

    Best regards.

This is probably to do with the fact that in the normal position you can only get the dish to go to a certain point because of the mount, by reversing it you can get it to look lower on the horizon.

Lower on the horizon is certainly the reason , including terrestrial transmission .

The price of satellite tv is so expensive

This is absolutely not true because anyone can have his satellite tv with a very little amount. If we based on channel-by-channel comparison, cable tv is very way behind. Plus, you can have your satellite tv as low as $20 a month depending on what package you want to purchase.

            hi

I completely agree with you, but also here (Belgium) most of the people are still convinced that cable is the best and cheapest ; here you need a basic subscription to cable, if you want digital tv -> extra ; if you want some more channels -> extra ; dig. cablebox must mostly be rented -> extra ; if you want to record with the cablebox -> extra ; ....
Only thing where I agree with them is that with sats it's more difficult (+ extra costs) to watch on different tv's on different places and to watch+record from more channels at the same time.

The picture is not good when its raining.

This is a false belief. If your satellite tv is properly installed then you will have your picture perfect TV. It is still good to let you satellite tv providers expert team to install your system.

                Re: SAT Myth Busters

If fixed dish is designed and sized for the provider then rain should certainly not cause bad picture . However heavy snowfall most likely will .

However when we push the limits and try to obtain channels on the edge of the satellite footprint , then even clouds and light rain can cause signal loss .

A second or third subscription / box is needed for each TV

This is most certainly a myth . Providers convince unknowing customers that they need to pay more for each additional TV , when all that's required is either RF out fed to each TV or better still an HDMI splitter . A wireless remote extender can be used to change channels from other rooms . Better still is an android app to switch channels . The only limitation is only one satellite channel can be viewed simultaneously .

                  Expensive installation.
Absolutely not true. How could this happen if all satellite tv providers offer free installation of the system?

                  Best regards.

Satellite tv picture is better than terrestrial tv

Here we have another myth .

Even when comparing analogue , the encryption method ( in particular videocrypt) degraded the picture .

Comparing SD digital signal , unfortunately compression can in some cases sacrifice quality especially on busier satellite transponders .

Separate satellite receiver for every tv.

This is also no true. Actually you can have a receiver that can run two televisions and each tuned to a different channel.

                      Best regards.

The repair cost is too expensive.
Again, this is not true. In provider such as Dish Network if you sign up for an 18-month agreement, this will give you a Dish Home Protection Plan and that is for free. And it will offer you a 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week technical support.

                      Best regards.

                      Satellite tv offers limited channels.
This my friend is absolutely not true. With your satellite tv, you can have up to 200 to 300 channels for you to enjoy. We always want to enjoy what we are watching. More shows and more tv programs to enjoy for our family. Though this battle will never come to end yet, we know that satellite tv will give us pure entertainment that we want.

                      Best regards.

If I have a satellite dish, will my signal get intercepted by aliens?
I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of extraterrestrials.

                      Best regards.

Usually Sky and Virgin offer you a 24/7 technical support. It means that if you have a fault then you can call then anytime of the day and any day of the week. They can take your call and tell you on the phone some general tips to make it work otherwise you will have to book an appointment for the engineer to have a look at it. There is always a waiting time for the visit. Usually there is no charge if the fault is in their equipment. If the fault is at your side then you have to pay for the call out.

If I have satellite TV, will the government monitor what I watch?
What makes you think they are not already? While I am against Big Brother as much as the next guy, you are not any less safe with satellite television than if you had cable.

                          Best regards.

I can watch sat tv without a dish.

Not true. To receive digital satellite TV in your home you need to have a satellite dish correctly oriented for satellite communications, a device selection and amplification bands called LNB and tuner digital channels (for channels "open") or decoder (for channels belonging to any payment platform).

                          Best regards.

I can't watch sat tv because satellite is not allways in the same orbit.

Satellites used for television signals are placed in geostationary orbit at 35,786 km above the Earth Ecuador. Because Earth orbit in the same direction and speed as this tour, the feeling that they are not moving. The importance of this is vital, since it is possible to use a transmitter or receiver without having to reposition the satellite as it moves. Keep in mind that the number of satellites may be in geostationary orbit is limited as necessary to avoid interference which may arise between them. That is, if we consider that satellites operating in the C band should be separated 2nd among them, we see that the maximum number of satellites that we can have is 360/2 = 180. Regarding the Ku band, the separation is smaller, so we can have up to 360/1 = 360.

                          Best regards.

It is impossible to know the FTA channels broadcast by satellite.

False. You can log on page _http://www.lyngsat.com Free TV section, you can find the channels being watched by country, in each list is the name of the satellite channel and issuing it. Clicking on the name of the satellite will see the list of channels available on the satellite, eg satellite NSS806, we verify that the channel is DVB type in free, as there are channels in the list that are encoded.

                          Best regards.

You can tune any satellite with an antenna of 65 cm. in diameter.
The size can vary depending on the satellite you want to tune, first select the satellite you want to tune, then you have to locate the satellite, find out which band satellite transmits, this can be depending on Ku band or C-band There prime focus antennas and antenna offset. Usually both antennas can be used to tune the satellite, the received power depends on the area where you live, the size can vary from 45 cms. 7 meters.

                          Best regards.
