    Re: Channels missing

You best clarify this statement first "Just to clarify I DO get the encrypted channels from 28.2 and they unscramble perfectly. I just can't get the uk ones. " Define your scrambled channels you are getting? Do you get Sky Sports 1 if you do then it could be your lnb needing turned slighty also I have discovered if you don't have enough quality or signal this can stop you getting channels. If your not getting any Sky channels be it scrambled or not then your dish is not pointing at 28.2 you'll have to reset and start again.

Yes, I get sky sports 1/hd/2 etc ITALIA unscrambled along with movie channels etc (and POLSKA and I assume De but I couldn't be bothered searching every channel to make sure which language it was in).

Watched some old Liverpool games on JSC showing LFCtv this morning before I changed everything.

Currently with Sgt Flipflop the only channels showing a decent signal are some smutty ones on 11390V (SNR 75%); sky retail on 11797H (SNR 60%) and Glory on 12560V (SNR 75%).

I am leaning towards changing the skew/lnb angle to see if it makes a difference.

Italia is not on 28.2 and polska either is JSC i suggest you do a factory reset and a single sat scan first choose the satelite which will be 28.2 obviously. Sky Sports 1 is on other satelites as well as 28.2 in german and italian.

It's sounding more and more like an alignment issue.
Before fiddling about with the dish/lnb move the dish to 28.2 and then try nudge it east and west a bit to see if signal improves.
Are you using usals or diseqc?
If you're using usals ensure your long/latitude is entered correctly as well.

            That WOULD make sense then!

If there are sky-ish channels around that latitude. Ive been using the system as a single satellite just to get things configured, like you say. I also double-checked with the dish degree-pointer .
Whilst on Badr I would nudge a couple of degrees east and therefore assumed I was on eurobird...but I'm guessing there might be another satellite close by with similar programming?

There is 28.4e which I believe is freesat.

I've just checked Kingofsats and I'm feeling like a dolt.

                  Sky Italia is on hotbird.
It is possible that I've been looking in the wrong direction completely.
Will check and let you know with profuse apologies (I was picking up sky retail and psychic though which are 28.2 which confused me)

McrRed with the Openbox put back to factory reset and your dish pointing south. Select the satellites you want dont pick to many remember say 6 to start with. Then tell the box to scan it moves and finds the sats itself try that and let us know mate.

                      Right!
                      I'm not blaming myself.
                      But I am an idiot.

I'd been verifying the sat positions using the scale on the motor.
                      This was a mistake.

Looking at the motor scale, at 28 degrees, I thought I was receiving Eurobird. I was actually receiving Hotbird.
The fact that there are loads of sky channels on hotbird didn't help matters.

Having gone back to basics outside, up a ladder and with a compass and sat meter I find that on the motor scale 28.2E actually corresponds to 40 degrees. (I've marked it for reference).

                      Everything sorted now.

Many thanks for all your help and ideas in getting me on the right track.
                      This is a great community!

                      Thanks Canny.
I'm cruising with the dish setup as a single satellite at the moment.
I'll just enjoy that for a few days then do as you say and get the multi-sat options sorted.

I don't know why but with the dish pointing due south and my lat/long coordinates input the receiver wasn't pushing the motor far enough round the arc. Hence all my problems.

At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Thanks again, for your patience everyone.

Yeah, mate. That's what had me stumped. I knew there was Sky Italia but until I checked on KingofSats I didn't realise they were on a different satellite!

The amount of work keeping that list up to date? Don't know how they do it!!

not sure about your receiver. But on a vu+, when you change channels, the infobar actually tells you what satellite you're on.
You can also go into settings to see which sat you're pointed at.
