    Channels missing

I don't know if this is a reciever issue (openbox) or a setup issue.

I have my satellite on 28.2 and can get lots of european FTA channels eg Somali, euronews etc and some encrypted channels (says "scrambled").
Some are H some are V.

    however...
...I can't get any standard UK FTA channels eg BBC1, Channel 5.

    What can I do?
    Delete current channels and re-scan?
    Line amp for lnb?
I've ******d my ass off on this one.

    Is there anything else?

I can get a good selection of channels on Badr fwiw

    Edit:
I deleted the channel list and re-scanned.
    All FTA channels now work.
    Encrypted channels are scrambled.

But still no UK Fta channels eg BBC1, Ch4, Ch5...

Try load the latest bouquets such as sgt flipflops.
Also check on kingofsat to see if there has been a change in frequency.
Don't think there has because mine is still ok.

      Cheers mate.

The bouquets don't actually do the loading of channels do they...they're just a way of organising them? or is there more to it than that?

Anyway will have a go...asssuming once I find sgt flipflop I load from usb as usual?

I had some issue like this, but i fix it by choosing to not do a network scan when searching. When you hit search, do you get any question about if you want to do a network search? if so choose no and see if you get them.

I don't get this message but thanks for the suggestion.
I did clear the channels and now I have approx 1800 channels loaded including *ky channels.

Interestingly there are no *ky uk channels and no FTA uk channels either.

When you use a premade bouquet ( vhannibal, rats, sgt flipflops, etc) it loads all the channel data, satellite.xml, etc.
I've never done a scan, always used a mixture of several bouquets.
Not sure how you load channel list on an openbox.
I do it with dreamboxedit through the network, but I have a vu+ duo.

              hi

what exactly do you mean: are the fta uk channels in your channellist but not opening or aren't they in your channellist? If they aren't: rescan, and check the SR/FEC of the TP (eg king of sats or lyngsat) - if you need eg 10773, you can try with 10772 or 10774.

Do you do manual scan, fastscan or blindscan?

I always suggest to make your own channellist (own scan, sorting and favourits), if not: good change on problems; which can take a lot of time to sort out ...

                Re: Channels missing

I think that's been part of the problem.
The box came with a preloaded channel list, none of which worked while I was setting up the dish.
Once the dish was set up I scanned a channel which had partial success. I then compounded things by doing a scan on Badr. Both on Eurobird and Badr there were plenty of european and arabic FTA channels available but I think the Openbox's poor memory meant I'd used all available slots up or something. Each re-scan from there meant the successful transponder list was getting shorter and shorter.

Last night I deleted all the previous channel data and rescanned. I used blindscan.

I can now get *ky italia, polska etc but not uk.
                And no uk FTA channels.

I will try both ideas suggested: loading sgt flip flop and setting up a channel from king of sats and see what happens (I seem to recall a thread on most powerful transponders on here somewhere).

Thanks for the ideas and help guys.

                EDIT:

Ok, I gave that a quick try using the transponder list off kingofsats and eg using 10729V and running a search of fta & non-fta channels...nothing!

Could be an alignment issue? Skew?

I'm getting 90% intensity and 70% quality from the rest of eurobird so you would've thought some channels would get through?
Perhaps it's the crappy memory on the openbox again because this was happening yesterday on many more transponders (not showing channels) before I cleared memory space.

I'd rather not mess with the dish setup unless I have to so I'll try a prepared channel list hoping that with all the additional channels removed it'll free some memory in this little box.

                  Re: Channels missing

hmm. you might want to do a factory reset, or update the firmware. Have you bought it from some arabic country? Because i have had similar problem when buyed receivers from arabic country and when they conf them they do some nasty config on the receivers. So i recommend you to do a full factory reset and then star scan for transponders.

I think your dish is not pointing towards 28.2e look in the forums to see how you can realign your dish.
This is the most likely cause because you are scanning lots of channels just not the ones at 28.2e.

                      Re: Channels missing

Delete everything and just try scanning 28.2e. Failing that do a factory reset and reinstall firmware.

You load the channel list by choosing upgrade by usb then misc then TP_PROG then select channel list you want.

Most channel list will follow the sgt flipflops layout otherwise you will have to rename favourites manually using remote.

                          McrRed,
sounds like a dish mis-alignment to me, if some 28e chns scan in, (obviously the stronger tps) but nothing opens, even if you are mis-align, strong encrypted chns will also show scrambled when they should open, if you are motorised put a badr4 26e chn on, and if you can with your box, try nudging couple times to east, then try re-scan for 28e.
Do not send me iptv/cline requests,

little tip: before you start deleting/rescanning take a back-up of your settings/channellist ; you never know what happens ; as said by bokkie: first look to get 28E + check settings with king of sats.

Yeah, I took a backup of everything before I started so hopefully I'll be able to get back to that at least.

Badr comes in loud and clear and I thought from my position in Northwest that it'd be much weaker than 28.2.

Just to clarify I DO get the encrypted channels from 28.2 and they unscramble perfectly. I just can't get the uk ones.

I tried another channel listing for *ky uk channels but though they show up in the programme list there's no signal.
I installed Sgt Flipflop (so my openbox is now a skybox) but that had the same effect (the programme list and favourites are there but there's no signal).

I'll try factory reset and reinstalling to see what that does.

I'll also go back to Badr and nudge on to 28.2 like you say toby...

Any thoughts on whether skew could be to blame?
