    Re: Increase signal

to know which sats you can receive where you are located, you can ****** for eg sat beams or sat coverage - there you'll find the possibilities (and perhaps see if you can get good/better signal or not).

      Re: Increase signal

does not matter how strong beam is, most important is dish size/alinement, thats why installers use very expensive signal meters.
these site give you basic footprint coverage, and approx dish sizes, and as pan says location of beams in your area.
      e.g

eirp (dbw) dish size in cm
      50 --- 50-65
      49 --- 50-70
      48 --- 50-75
      47 --- 55-90
      46 --- 60-95
      45 --- 70-100
      44 --- 75-120
      43 --- 105-130
      42 --- 120-150
      etc,
Do not send me iptv/cline requests,

technical or iptv/cline server questions in PM!

      I will not answer!

        Re: Increase signal

There is only one viable solution to increase signal and that is a bigger dish, you can tweak and change lnb,Cable etc but a bigger dish is the only answer.

            Re: Increase signal

I have to agree. New coaxial, lnb, etc will only provide marginal improvement unless there is a problem there already.
the best way to improve signal is a biggger dish.

yes, ok - can cost you some USD, GBP or EUR, but why not ask a pro to come over and let him look. What can happen?: setup not good -> low cost for better setup/dish alignment and/or bigger dish ; if setup is good: he might help you with info of what you'll get with a bigger dish. So win-win and you'll be sure (as I see it).

Has been discussed before: first you can try yourself to setup the dish, when it works: no problem. When it doesn't: as toby said: pro's have finetuning signal meters for optimal dish alignment.

If I was mounting a dish in my garden. I would never pay an installer to come over and fix the dish. I would do it myself. It gives me something to do and gain more experience. If its a difficult wall installation then Yes, call the installer and wait inside the house with a hot/cold drink, depending on your area.

I wish I had the time to attempt a dish install myself.
Unfortunately if I left my 6 and 3 year old and there own for a few hours I would have to shell out more than the cost of an installer. They'd wreck the place!
For me it's not really an option.

                      hi microchick

I know some people who tried to install their dishes for themselves (same region where I live, same dish and same box - lnb's I don't know) - I had it done by a prio (really strongest signal). By a few all ok and no problems until now, but some others struggled weeks and weeks with sometimes weak signal (then we all learned that there are weak/sensitive TP's such as the one of ORF on Astra 1 19E), in the end an installer had to come with his meter to setup the best signal (this wasn't where the equipment was bought - so afterwards costed even more money and wasted time). So, it's everyone's choice ; me myself I'm not afraid to install it myself (have done things worse and more difficult than that), but just without the necessary meters I'm pretty sure it's very difficult to find best sat reception. Sorry to diasgree with you, is only my opinion.

                        Re: Increase signal

Everyone has got their own opinion. We all learn with experiencing things on our own. If its an installation in the garden then you have everything available. You can take the whole tv out and put it in front of you and watch the signal quality. You will not have to worry about the ladders, walls, neighbours and rains. You can work almost all night to get the best signal. There is no time limits. The most important is, if you are playing with the satellites then you need to have patience. Save money on installation and invest in a good box. I picked a 90cm dish including LNB and wall mount, from a refurbishing house skip and am going to install it myself for 19.2e myself. ( Its really good fun when you get things for nowt). I am really pleased!!
But of course everyone is different and have different opinions (Thank Goodness)!

good for you micro, you have a go yourself, if it is available take mini tv and use that for signal guide, should have no probs with 19e, move onto motors in future, i also got my dish out of a skip, a 270cm one, and installed that myself, only needed 2 other chaps help to lift dish onto mount. would like to motorise it but to expensive.

Are you not going to motorise micro? A 90 cm dish would be great for motorised setup.
either that or stick a monoblock on there for 13e as well.

I'm definitely going motorised but that project is in pipeline for late July. Have already finalised budget for that. I will keep the 90cm for experimentation in the future. First will have a go at 19.2 east and then will scrape the spare sky minidish which is at the moment looking at hotbird and will do a dual LNB on the 90cm.

                                Re: Increase signal

Am I correct in saying that you're in the north of england?
if so then a 90cm should act as a 70cm or 80 cm down south.
You'll get most sats with a 90 but with not much of a rain margin on some of the weaker sats like tring on 16e.
Would do great for a multi lnb on 13e, 19e. and maybe even 9e or 23.5 e.
