Should be fairly easy to fabricate some brackets to wrap around the base and still leave a means of moving the dish to pick up other birds

@Mobley3: Just disagree with you as brackets wont be a good idea. It might do some damage to the roof. To repair the roof will cost a lot. Easy enough to put some more sand bags or something like that as the dish in on the roof so they wont be moving it around all the time and looks like there is another dish in the picture for other sats.

True, always a possibility of doing some damage when drilling a flat roof. I think if I was going down the sandbag route I would extend the base footprint for stability.

What is the smallest dish you could use for C band from the UK ?

Smallest around 1m a 1.25 would be better and open up a few more sats but a 1m will give you access to the stronger birds on the west side like 5° west.

I did not know this! I have the dish size but I am not sure if my TM5402HD can pick up c band? I have never ever attempted to tune such a satellite.

If I CAN pick any up, what do you recommend to tune since I have always avoided looking for channels on such C band satellites?

The TM5402HD will do C-Band no problem your only obstacle is you will have to swap your KU band LNB for a C-Band, Thats why most people have 2 separate dish's 1 for KU and 1 for C-Band

you will need one of these

                        Code:

and one of these to go with it.

As C band usually needs bigger size dish, I thought we would need a dish size begger than 1m. I still remember the days when we were using a 8foot dish to receive some strong satellites on C band.

Not on 5.0° west a 1m would suffice a 1.2m would be better

i was looking into c-band myself with a spare gibby 1.25m untill a neighbour complained... there are quite a few sats available with a 1.2m dish although you wont get all txp,s. of course for proper c-band reception you really need at least a 1.8m dish but preferably a 2.4m one. as stated by @digicon ab3@5west has a very strong c-band beam and can be picked up with a 1m dish, 20e and a couple on the west side might give you a couple of txp,s also. regards mdt
