I found this alternative software for dish pointing. I'm using dish pointer but payed quite a bit. Can someone test it out.

It is interesting to help identify approximate location of the satellite.
I think the best is to use a measuring instrument to the optimal setting satellite dish.

I agree with skytec. Put it on my phone and its about as accurate as looking at a neighbours dish. Even a cheap meter outperforms this app. Dishpointer isn't bad though, but you still need a meter to maximise signal.

no use for any of this software,
electronic compass in phones is not accurate,
satfinder tools wich use dm tuner and network are not real help because of the lag

I don't know how such software can help
I'd better use Satellite Antenna Alignment v2.87.0, _http://www.al-soft.com/downloads/saa_setup.exe
It will give you azimuth and elevation angle.
Then take Magnetic compass and aim to azimuth. And then sharp tuning looking on strength/quality indicators on receiver.
There's an interesting software called FastSatFinder. I think it really could help. It can install a web-server on 80 port of your pc with dvb card, connected to your dish. You take your phone/pda/laptop, go to your dish, connect to _http://yourhost:80 and you will get strength/quality indicators in browser window of your phone/pda/laptop. There some minuses of that software
            - price - it costs like lamborghini diablo
            - it doesn't work with every dvb-card, I was unable to urge it to work with Tevii 650

              Regards.
For me there's more interesting to find, tune, setup etc sat then to watch satellite TV

OK. But I´m interested if Satfinder works fine on Android platforms?

I have to agree. The electronic compasses are so inaccurate. Best just use a normal one, they generally come with sat kits as well.

I got my brother to put my dish on the wall as I'm hopeless at DIY. I aligned the dish myself firstly by pointing it in similar direction to neighbours' dishes and used this app to get my angles close. Then just a few adjustments and watching the signal strength on tv it was done in ten minutes.

There are a few similar apps but generally I got the same info from them all.

I used a couple of neat looking apps...Satellite Director and Sat Finder (both free).
They appeared very useful in displaying the named satellites' location but I actually ended up confused and my installation proceeded much quicker when I simply bought a meter.

                          Moral? All that glistens...
