Probably posted already, but here is a fine tool to help you align your dish using ****** earth:

    _www.dishpointer.com
It also features a tool that shows what satellites you can actually receive at your location, taking into account all transponder footprints.

it`s not really offline. it`s an application for android based mobile phones. argumented reality means that you can use your mobile phone`s camera compass etc. and when you point your mobile in the sky it shows the satellites on the display above the real picture of your camera.
[this is off topic ^^] quite cool though if you`re in a city and pointing an argumented reality app to a building and it shows you informations about it

Re: General satellite arrangement from East to West

I was wondering what Itasat 2 was doing there, as it was moved to the junkyard in 2002. But then I looked at the date in the bottom right hand corner : (C) 2000!

Nice picture indeed, but a bit outdated.
Overhere at the bottom is one of those argumented reality apps. Quite nice!

It is not good for all, it assumes you've your south to 20° east, the pole arc changes in correlation to your position on ground. For example in Italy the closest satellite to south is Hot Bird not Astra.
Best way is to refer to a satellite calculator that starts from your longitude and latitude position.

Yes, agree with you. It depends on the place where You find, but otherwise it's more like a graphical representation of the position of satellites in orbit.
