I think it works but really bad, the dish must only reflect the signal and drive it to LNB feedhorn, what receives the signal is the little antenne inside the LNB feedhorn. So stones has propety to reflect too waves but the problem is not the dish's material but his conformation I mean it must be bend like a dish to reflect the signal into rigt direction. Long time ago when first hot bird was launched I've seen a dish made in middle east from some italians it was made on ground by cement because was really big more then 7 meters, where they've builded this dish they was out from hotbird footprint. But this cement dish was bend like a normal dish they've covered it with thin allumin film, the same we use for store foods, and so with a low thresold receiver they was able to receive italian tv!
