Samsung Smart TV connects to TF1

As part of their strategic agreement for the distribution of applications, the TF1 Group and Samsung Electronics France have launched a new service making the TF1 Vision preview service available on Samsung Smart TV.

TF1 already has anumber of applications running on Samsung, including TV Grille, Meteo (weather forecast), TF1 News, Eurosport and Ev�nements (events).

TF1 Visio provides access to preview a selection of movies and TV programmes before the actual broadcast or cinema release. Viewers can rent each title for a period of 48 hours. Both US TV series and French programmes are available � US series the day after their screening in the States. Box office hits are available within the VOD window.

The TF1 applications for Samsung TV sets were first shown at the MIPTV 2010, last year in Cannes.

Na satelitu Atlantic Bird 1 koji se nalazi na orbitalnoj poziciji 12.5 stepeni zapadno sa emitiranjem su pocela 2 kanala MTV Italia i MTV Music u HD rezoluciji. U teoriji ova dva kanala bi trebala biti dostupna svima, ali nazalost u praksi nije tako ,a za to su 2 razloga. Prvi je da se kanali emitiraju sa DVB-S2/8PSK Transpondera sa ACM (Adaptive Coding Modulation) i MIS (Multiple Input Streams) tehnikom. Kao rezultat svega ovoga, jasno je da ova dva kanala mogu primati nekoliko satelitskih resivera koji se nalaze na tr�i�tu.
MIS tehnika omogućava da se sa jedne frekvencije simultano emitira vi�e kompletnih signala u odvojenim paketima. Neophodno je manualno odabrati koji signal �elite da gledate. Kanali MTV Italia HD i MTV Music HD se zajedno emitiraju sa RTL 102.5 TV.
Standardni HD digitalni satelitski resiveri mogu primati signal sa DVB-S2 transpondera ali gdje se koristi CCM ( Coding and Modulation constant), i ovakvi resiveri nisu u mogućnosti čak ni skenirati kanale koji koriste ACM ili VCM tehniku.

Ukraine/Russia top DTH list

DIGITAL TV CEE � BUDAPEST. Ukraine and Russia are now the markets with the greatest potential for DTH growth in Central and Eastern Europe.

Speaking in a panel discussion entitled Satellite: the driver for digital growth in CEE, Jean-Philippe Gillet, regional VP, Europe and Middle East, Intelsat, said that he saw two main opportunities for the region�s DTH sector.

The first is in the number of HD channels, with customers such as Romania�s RCS&RDS having been expected to aggressively introduce such services just prior to the economic crisis and the economy in Romania now starting to pick up again.

The second is the appearance of new players, even in markets where there are already several platforms operating.

Gillet identified Ukraine and Russia, and speaking to Broadband TV News he added that the type of business model that would work best in Ukraine would be one of a platform offering an extremely attractive basic package, building up a subscriber base with a low ARPU.

Gillet also said that although it was unlikely Russia would see any more DTH platforms at this stage � it currently works with Orion Express, the second largest in terms of subscriber numbers after Tricolor TV � there was still as lot of potential in the market.

Moreover, it will be interesting to see what happens when DTT becomes available in Russia and the impact this has on the lowest priced TV packages.

Commenting on other markets, Gillet said that the two things that have to happen are �consolidation and subscribers to pay more.�

In the case of Romania, the fact that RCS&RDS is now putting its own content together could prove a game changer.

A possibility of establishing of a "Technopark Skolkovo" R&D center at the "Technopolis Gousev" was discussed as a result of the visit.

Schedule of the tour initiated by the regional Government Agency of Communication and Mass Media included a visit to the Innovation Park at the Baltic Federal University, working meeting with the regional government and the visit to the "Technopolis Gousev" enterprises.

Technopark "Skolkovo" strives to establish in Russia a network of shared use centers, business incubators and spin off centers at the leading institutes of higher education as well as of scientific and technical development centers, observed Mr Lyudmirsky. During the working meeting the visitor were presented a report on "The investment prospects of Kaliningrad region in view of the future development of innovation cluster in the region."

Mr Lyudmirsky noted after the meeting that favorable conditions exist in Kaliningrad region for new business enterprises, also known as "startups", to start and develop. Such projects could be made ready at Skolkovo where a super modern R&D site is being developed. "Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University is ready to offer some interesting ready-to-go projects. So, lets bring their development team to Skolkovo for some "growing up", said Dmitry Lyudmirsky. Successful projects should relocate back to their respective regions, concluded deputy Director-General of the Technopark.

During the visit to the "Technopolis Gousev" Mr Dmitry Lyudmirsky took a tour of operating facilities, acquainted himself with the plans for development of a R&D and educational centre and a project for future business incubator and venture fund to provide support for innovation projects. The visit concluded with the suggestion that R&D centre of Technopark "Skolkovo" might be established based on the infrastructure of innovation at the "Technopolis Gousev", so that the Technopark projects could use the infrastructure for R&D. Both parties agreed to conduct further negotiations on the subject. A joint "Gousev-Skolkovo" business incubator, use of facilities of OAO �Digital Television Systems" RPA� and the Centre for Development and Production of Microelectronics "GS-Nanotech", which is currently under construction, to satisfy the demand OOO "Technopark "Skolkovo" residents for production facilities were also discussed.

Mr Andrey G. Tkachenko, the president of the General Satellite Corporation, delivered a report at the first Strategic Forum "Kalinigrad Region Future Development" on May 24, 2011. He described the "Technopolis Gousev" Project which started in Kaliningrad region in 2008 and went on to announce that the foundation stone of the fifth production facility at the Technopolis - the Center for R&D and Production of Microelectronics "GS-Nanotech"- has been laid.

The models of the new production facilities and residential areas at the Technopolis were on display in the lobby.

The president of the General Satellite Corporation Mr Andrey G. Tkachenko pointed out in his report that the strategic goal of the Project is to form a radio electronic industry cluster in Gousev, a new focus of innovative development of Russia.

Mr Tsukanov, the Governor of Kalinigrad Region, had the following to say to the Forum audience: "Today we start public debate on direction of the future development of Kalinigrad region. The "Technopolis Gousev" Project is the first active technopolis in the country which will help the region to reach a whole new level of development."
