    Freesat continues to outpace rivals

Free-to-air satellite platform Freesat says it has added more than 150,000 homes over the last 12 months.

With Sky due to report on Thursday morning, Freesat said that it had added approximately 150,000 homes in the last 12 months, making it the fastest growing established TV platform.
The figures included 29,000 new Freesat homes added between January and March taking Freesat into 1.7 million homes.

According to Freesat’s own customer research, 51% of homes that joined the free TV service in 2012/13 were from pay-TV rivals, the majority from Sky. The research also indicated that just over 25% of homes are considering changing TV service provider in 2013, and of these, 60% are being driven by the desire to save money.

Emma Scott, Freesat’s managing director commented: “Freesat is truly a TV platform of choice. Our consistently positive results demonstrate fantastic growth and a strong appetite for high quality, good value TV, in a challenging economic environment”.

Freesat says there have been particularly strong sales for its next generation Free time box, but did not split out the figures for the £279 receiver.

If all Free tv could be like Freesat, it would be so nice ! Well, would be better with a European FootPrint !
Freesat have a lot of channels, most of them, i don't see, but i enjoy to see National Tv's BBC's ITV's Channel5... the Music Channels especialy since some 3-5 new music tv became FTA and integrate Freesat.

It should be the same for Spain, Netherlands, Belgium etc... what is FTA on ground should be FTA on Satelite too.

Freesat is simply allowing access to the FTA channels on 28east, it is nothing more. There are channels like "Channel 5 HD, ITV2 HD etc" which are not on freesat as they are scrambled and come packaged in pay subcriptions. So it doesn't show all the channels that are meant to be free.

Freesat is simply like freeview in a sense, but instead of using an arial to pickup signal, it is through a dish which is the best option there is, and with signals carrying more quality now, a good reception is critical and a satellite will always be better than an arial...!
