French commercial broadcaster TF1 has struck a deal to resell some of its rights to the Rugby World Cup to public broadcaster France Télévisions and pay TV broadcaster Canal Plus, according to local reports.
TF1 will retain the rights to the French national team’s matches, the semi-finals and the final, while the remainder – 28 matches in total – will be aired by France Télévisions and Canal Plus. The pair paid a reported €13 million for the rights, with France Télévisions paying three quarters of the sum. Canal Plus will air the matches after a time delay.
