Fot those who think there are (sometimes) useless matches in the uefa champions or europa league:

The UEFA Country Ranking List decides how many teams of a country can start in the next year in the competitions. Every match is considered there.

The actual list can e.g. be found here:

does this mean countries with more money, or countries that can attract millionaires to go and invest their money in their clubs will have a better chance and get more places?!
well that should prove that this game is more and more about the money??!!!

Hi foxy6800 if you look at the calculations it is based over a 5 year period and is mainly
dependent on how well teams from particlar countries perform in competitions it is not
about money but performance of teams entered in competition. Therefore as satphoenix
as said, you want even the least capable team from your country to get good result so
overall ranking for the country stays good.

if calculations ...
- are based on performances along 5 year period
- not based about money

... the fundamental question remains as :

is performances dependent/independant of money

i should ask them to gives us such a calculation scheme reporting
the correlation of

performances ~ f( money )

and dig out any statistical bias between the voice of the master's propaganda and real life

previously cleared, of course, by a good signal/noise ratio filter

In indirect way, yes.
Countries with more money (rich sponsors and lots of money with worldwide pay-/free-tv rights) normaly have better results, because the have the more expensive players.

But even matches (like some matches in the last matchday of the group stage) which have no desicion about the first two places in the group count in this 5-year list.
