Badr 5 began commercial operation on 26E

UAE satellite operator Arabsat launched the commercial operation of its new telecommunications satellite, Badr 5 at the orbital position 26 degrees East, where expanded transmission capacity of existing satellites Badr 4 and Badr 6.

In recent days was not entirely clear as to which satellite orbital position will be working at all. Badr 5 was delivered with a plan to strengthen the position of 26°E. A few days ago, but the site Arabsat information emerged that Badr 5 will operate under a new name Arabsat 5B new orbital position 34.5 degrees east and becomes the basis for the newly built position operator. Finally, the spacecraft appeared as Badr 5 to 26°E and can bring considerable changes in the income of Arab broadcasting in central Europe.

Currently, a total of 6 active transponders, which can test the candidate. To receive the required parabola giant dimensions (200 cm and more).

technical parameters of the active transponders Badr 5:
Freq 11.240 GHz, pol. V, SR 27500, FEC 3/4 DVB-S, mux Fujeirah Media
    Freq 11.280 GHz, pol. V, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, DVB-S, mux JMC
Freq 11.318 GHz, pol. V, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, DVB-S, du mux (including Dubai Sports HD)
    Freq 11.355 GHz, pol. V, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, DVB-S, mux JMC
Freq 11.395 GHz, pol. V, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, DVB-S, mux Al Dawr (including Al Kass HD)
Freq 11.432 GHz, pol. V, SR 27500, FEC 3/4 in DVB-S, mux JMC

But what is certainly bad news is the cast of transponders on the satellite Badr 5. Freq at 11.318 GHz, half the program is distributed in Dubai Sports HD (HD Sports DXB) and the freq 11.395 GHz is a package of sports channels like Al Kass (including Al Kass HD). There are therefore directed to that audience in Central Europe with those channels likely soon to say goodbye. On the original transponder satellite Badr 4 probably end soon. Permanent parallel distribution is meaningless.

Satellite Badr 5 (Arabsat 5B) was passed supporting the Russian Proton rocket / Breezer M from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at night on Friday, April 6, 2010. Satellite was built based on the Eurostar platforms +3000 E (EurostarE3000) and added together, the company Astrium and Thales Alenia Space. Lifetime is scheduled for 15 years.

Badr 5 has a total of 46 Ku-band transponders, capacity in S and 4 in the Ka band. Strengthen one of the premier positions in the countries of the Arab world.

Badr 5 will operate a total of 4 in the frequency bands:

    10.7 to 10.95 GHz (Volume Pan-Arab)
    11.2 to 11.45 GHz (Volume Pan-Arab)
11.7 to 12.50 GHz (Volume Pan-Arab, Maghreb, Central Asia)
    12.5 to 12.75 GHz (Volume Pan-Arab)
