Israeli cable provider HOT has signed a multi-year deal for the carriage of Eurosport 2 across its network. The international version of the channel will be carried in both English and Russian, adding an important service to the Russian community in the country.
“We are delighted to see Eurosport 2 in the offer of HOT in Israel,” says Olivier Bramly, Eurosport’s director of distribution, head of southern, central & eastern Europe. “Eurosport and HOT have been long-term strategic partners and we are proud to provide HOT subscribers in Israel the possibility of following a unique team sport offer through Eurosport 2. This is a step forward in the development of Eurosport 2, currently one of the fastest growing sports TV channels in Europe.”
Eurosport 2 was launched in 2005 and is now distributed to over 44 million households worldwide, 47 countries and is available in 15 different languages.
The channel is positioned as a new generation sports network through coverage of Basketball (Eurocup and Euroleague), American Football, Australian Football, beach soccer, Grand Slam tennis, WWE, snowboarding, surfing and World and UK Superbike Championships. Eurosport 2 HD was launched in August 2009.
“Eurosport 2 is a popular leading channel abroad and bringing it to Israel serves the demand for this channel in Israel,” commented Yoram Mokady, HOT’s vice president of content and regulation.
Earlier this year HOT also carried Eurosport’s 3D coverage of the French Open Tennis championships
