Sony launches Floresta in Brazil
12/07/10
Sony Pictures Television has formed a joint venture production company in Brazil, continuing to ramp up its international production business.
The studio has launched Floresta in association with Elisabetta Zenatti, who was previously head of programming and production at free-to-air network Bandeirantes.
Floresta will shop its catalogue of formats, both scripted and unscripted to Brazilian broadcasters from its Sao Paulo base.
"The formation of Floresta demonstrates our continuing commitment to the region and our desire to bring the best programming to broadcasters in Brazil. Floresta is the latest addition to our worldwide roster of thriving production companies," says Kees Abrahams, president, international production, Sony Pictures Television.
This follows the acquisition of stakes in France's Starling, Russia's Lean-M and Holland's Tuvalu Media as well as the launch of Spanish and Italian production company Toro Productions last year.
