Spain begins analogue switch off
31 Mar 10 -
Spain's government switched off analogue TV signals to 16.5 million homes yesterday in regions including Madrid, Barcelona and Seville as part of the country’s digital switchover strategy.
Analogue signals to the rest of the country are due to be switched off by April 2. The switch to digital will expand the number of national TV channels to more than 30. Francisco Ros, deputy industry minister for telecommunications, said the next step would be to authorise HD DTT channels, which is likely to happen in a couple of weeks.
