    Austar: Now available online

    Austar: Now available online

Australian regional pay-TV platform Austar has launched its content download and streaming service, Austar Anywhere, including two online channels and content from 38 broadcasters.

The service means Austar subscribers can access content from the 38 channels via their Mac or PC, including hundreds of hours of content from a broad range of movie, kids, documentary, news, general entertainment and lifestyle channels. Online channels ESPN360 and Setanta-i will also be available and will feature exclusive content.

Austar Chief Executive Officer, John Porter, said: “Austar AnyWhere is the next step in making the best entertainment available to our customers whenever and however they want it. It will give our subscribers complete flexibility and control over when they view their favourite shows, as long as they have an internet connection on their PC. A key feature of Austar AnyWhere is that it will offer the ability to both stream and download content, meaning customers can either watch the video straight away online, or download it to their PC or Mac to watch later.”

While the service will incur no extra charge from Austar, users will have to have an internet access deal with a high download limit, or an unlimited download deal, which are typically much more expensive in Australia.

Porter continued: “Alongside [PVR set-top] MyStar and MyStar HD, Austar AnyWhere cements Austar’s place as the entertainment gateway for regional Australians. We look forward to the [national broadband network] becoming a reality so we can provide an even greater range of innovative services for our subscribers.”
