Sat.1 Comedy and kabel eins classics, the two digital pay-TV channels from the ProSiebenSat.1 Group have reached 2 million subscribers by the end of June, the broadcaster announced.
The two channels launched four years ago in June 2006 with a digital cable (Unity Media) and on IPTV (Alice and T-Entertain) and later also on the digital satellite from Premiere, now Sky.
“We started with 500,000 subscriber households four years ago and have quadrupled our customer base since. This confirms our concept, offer viewers something special,” said Mirjam Laux, director of pay television at Seven Senses, the ProSiebenSat.1 Group company that owns the channels.
Sat.1 Comedy specialises in comedy movies, sitcoms and TV series from the US (in Enlish with subtitles) and original productions from channels from ProSiebenSat.1; kabel eins classics brings classic movies from the 40s till the early 90s, both from the US and Europe.
