Sarkozy chooses Pflimlin

French president Sarkozy, whose government is trapped into several affairs, has finally made a said-to-be reasonable and peaceful choice. On Monday, he officially named Rémy Pflimlin to preside over public service broadcasting group France Télévisions.
This man of 56 years, who currently manages press distribution network Presstalis, was preferred to favorite Alexandre Bompard. The radio station Europe 1 CEO was finally sacrificed because of his close relationships with Nicolas Sarkozy.
Pflimlin will succeed Patrick de Carolis on August 23. A former General Director of France 3 between 1999 and 2005, he is acknowledged as a professional of the media and TV sector.
Rémy Pflimlin will be heard on Thursday by TV regulatory body CSA, that previously had the power to nominate independent PSB bosses, and on the following week by Senators and Deputies.
