Extension for ESS Singapore dual feed
Rose Major
Even though Singapore’s new “must-share” content rules have yet to start, rival platforms SingTel’s Mio TV and StarHub are already entering into the spirit of co-operation, extending the cutover timing for the ESPN Star Sports channels.
The ESPN Star Sports bouquet were due to switch from StarHub to Mio TV this month but both platforms will now carry the channels until midnight on August 1.
Recently the carriers agreed to showcase the Wimbledon 2010 Championships on both platforms. With this extension, Singapore viewers can catch the Formula One’s British Grand Prix, German Grand Prix, Hungarian Grand Prix and prominent golf major, The Open Championship on both platforms.
New rules will be implemented shortly, requiring that one operator’s pay-TV content is offered also to subscribers of another platform.
