Pflimlin preferred to Bompart for France TV?
It’s not the end of the play but a new act in this political drama. France’s press reported last week that President Sarkozy has chosen Rémy Pflimlin instead of his friend from Europe 1, Alexandre Bompart, to head France’s public service broadcasting group.
Currently the General Manager of Presstalis, the company distributing the French and international press titles, Rémy Pflimlin would form a ticket with former France 3, France 2 and France 5 Programming Director Jean-Pierre Cottet, reports say.
Both men know the France Télévisions house very well and can’t be suspected of collusion with the political power. However, the Elysée Palace has not yet officially confirmed the news. The announcement of the name of the future public service broadcasting boss is expected in the days to come.
Patrick de Carolis’ term will end on August 23. There has been too much bad feeling between him and Nicolas Sarkozy to make possible a reappointment.
