Freesat has announced the winners of the annual Freesat Awards for 2010, which celebrates the best in channels and services available on the subscription-free UK satellite TV service.
ITV1 HD won a special award for “the impact it has had across all Freesat homes in the past year”. Judges said that moving from a red button service to a full channel showed “huge commitment to developing the service into something Freesat viewers really love”.
The best entertainment channel award went to E4, the best children’s channel was awarded to CBeebies, while Al Jazeera English scooped the best news channel. Flava won the best music channel award, the best themed channel went to Horror Channel and QVC won the best shopping channel award. Best specialist radio station went to Absolute 80s.
