Ono joins TiVo for advanced services

TiVo specialises in digital video recording. With this agreement Ono’s subscribers will be able to access and record TV services, as well as internet content and those of traditional TV's.
Ono will be the exclusive distributor of TiVo's services in Spain, while TiVo becomes the exclusive software provider for all new generation boxes deployed by Ono. At the same time both companies say they will also work with other technology providers such as Nagravision and Cisco on the implementation and further launching of the new generation TV platform so that clients will get the TiVo experience through Ono's fiber optic network. This will allow units to access both DTT transmissions and internet content.
According to Ono's CEO Rosalía Portela "working with an strategic partner such as TiVo allows us to make a further step in the launching of the new generation TV in the Spanish market. Our fiber optics network together with TiVo's capacity makes us be at the avant garde of the new generation advanced services for the internet and television".
TiVo's president Tom Rogers said "this agreement shows the growing proliferation of our company as the definite solution for TV providers pretending make their service different by means of the best experience for the users. Our service integrates broadband and television. This goes beyond the limits of tradition pay-TV".
