HBO has officially launched its video streaming service, HBO Go that will provide subscribers web access to the same movies HBO screens on Cable TV at no extra charge. The service, which is intended for HBO cable subscribers only, is an attempt by Time Warner, HBO’s parent company, to build a Netflix web streaming competitor. HBO also claims that its new video streaming service will be able to offer access to newer titles than its competitor Netflix. Currently, the service features more than 600 hours of continuously updated programming. Meanwhile, Netflix continues to expand as confirmed by its CEO Reed Hastings: “The big market for Hollywood content [after the US] is Europe. Third is Asia. Fourth is the rest of the world. Canada is and was an option. It’s sort of international-lite.
