Eurosport and Panasonic has successfully launched the first-ever pan-European 3D transmission of the tennis French Open at Roland Garros in Paris. The first 3D images, part of the "Panasonic 3D experience at Roland Garros with Eurosport", were transmitted via satellite (Eutelsat and Astra) to over 3,000 selected Panasonic retail outlets in 28 territories across Europe (excluding France).
Eurosport is providing Panasonic a feed to show ALL matches live from centre court in 3D, including men's and women's semi-finals and finals, over a 14-day period between May 24 and June 6.
It is the first-ever live pan-European 3D broadcast of an entire multi-day sporting event in Europe.
The multi-day transmission to stores throughout Europe is intended to showcase Panasonic 3D TV screens and Eurosport's sports and technological broadcast expertise, following a partnership in April.
With the "Panasonic 3D experience at Roland Garros with Eurosport", Eurosport will provide Panasonic with a 'full-service' communication solution by offering: prestigious live tennis content from the tennis French Open; the technological means to provide live 3D transmission; a pan-European multimedia communication platform leveraging the partnership; and local country activation, including a promotional and PR campaign.
