Astra 1G left position 23.5 E goes to east

Astra 1G Luxembourg satellite operator SES Astra goes to a new position. Astra 1G recently ceased to distribute signals to the orbital position of 23.5 ° E. This happened after the successful launch of Astra 3B in service. 1G satellite is now awaiting a new mission.

ASTRA 1G is currently in position around the 29 degrees east, and the target location is a position 31.5°E, where it now operates another satellite operator - Astra 2C.

Astra 1G will serve on the newly established position operator for Central and Eastern Europe. It will transmit television and radio programs, and data services according to individual clients.

Astra 1G handed down in December 1997 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome (Kazakhstan), with a life expectancy of 15 years. It means that space apparatus still has about 2 years of operation.

Astra 1G satellite has a total of 28 transponders that can be used in a frequency band from 11.7 to 12.75 GHz. Same bandwidth currently used by the Astra 2C to the position of 31.5°E.
